First stop on our way to Klungkung is Gianyar, where we visit a hand-weaving factory. Then on to Klungkung to the Kertha Gosa Pavilion erected at the end of the 8th century and is known as the Hall of Justice. It typifies the Klungkung style of architecture and painting. Kertha Gosa in the old days was considered the supreme court of Bali.
We continue on to Sideman and Putung with some captivating scenery of rice terraces, views of southern Bali and nearby islands, as well as Mount Agung. On to Candi Dasa for a lunch break (optional) and then to the unique Bali Aga Tenganan ancient village of basket and textile weaving. This style of weaving is specific to this village.
Witness the 1000 year old tradition of Sea Salt harvesting in Kusamba, where the eastern shore of Bali borders Lombok Strait and brings cold water from the north, and mixes with the warm Bali tropical water creating a salt that is mild and sweet in flavour. It is produced 100% naturally by solar evaporation and on a scale of only a few kilos per day per producer.
We also visit Goa Lawah bat cave founded in 1007 and of great significance to the Balinese as it is the designated holy place to honour the God Mahaswana.
